1 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A zinc-rich primer designed as an alternative to hot-dip galvanizing.

2 RECOMMENDED USE

Designed for long-term corrosion protection of steel structures, bridges and other metal components, especially large and complex structures where hot-dip galvanizing is impractical or costly and outdoor steel facilities with demanding corrosion resistance and difficult maintenance. It may be used alone as a primer or combined with a topcoat to form a composite protection system.

6 APPLICATION

Application Temperature: 5–40°C

Application Conditions: Relative humidity below 85%. Substrate temperature at least 3°C above the dew point.

Pot Life: Not applicable to a single-component product.

Application Methods: Airless spray, air spray, brush and roller.

Applied Substrate: Bare steel.

Coating System: Sealer coat or the PUNTIUM recommended coating system.

7 SURFACE PREPARATION

  • Remove salts and water-soluble contaminants with fresh water.
  • Remove oil and grease with suitable detergent or solvent in accordance with SSPC-SP 1.
  • Abrasive blast to ISO Sa 2½ / SSPC-SP 10 or better.
  • All surfaces must be clean, dry and dust-free.

8 STORAGE

Store in dry, cool conditions away from heat and ignition. Keep containers tightly closed.

Shelf Life: 12 months at 25°C, subject to re-inspection thereafter.

9 CAUTIONS

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

  • Avoid skin and eye contact.
  • Wash skin with warm water and/or suitable cleanser. Flush eyes with plenty of water and seek immediate medical attention.
  • Ensure good ventilation and avoid inhaling spray mist or vapour.
  • Comply with relevant national regulations and consult the SDS.
